Different Types of Photos

This past week in my multimedia journalism class we turned in our “Seeing Red” photos and were assigned our five photo project. In our five photo assignment we must take 5 different types of photos that are based on one subject.

The first type of photo is a scene setter. This photo is usually taken with a wide lens camera and gives the viewer a sense of place. A photographer can use many different angles while getting this shot; a popular one is to get above the action.

The second type of photo is a portrait. A portrait is a photo of a person in which they make up about 30-40 percent of the picture and it shows their head and shoulders.

The third type of photo is a detail shot. This photo is a tight, close up shot of of details that one cannot usually see with the naked eye.

The fourth type of shot is a close up picture. In this picture the subjects face and shoulders take up the entire picture.

Our last shot for the five photo assignment is a creative shot. We can experiment with the angle of a shot or change the shutter speed or aperture so it creates an interesting effect on the picture. The picture below is an interesting and creative angle take on wedding kiss.

Thats all for now!
